Privacy Policy
My Color Place is made for children. We built it so we don't need to know who your child is. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to information on our site, including the few things that do leave your device.
Last updated: October 30, 2026
- No accounts and no sign-up. Kids can color and play without giving any information.
- No ads, no trackers, no analytics and no social media buttons. We don't use cookies.
- We never ask for a child's name, email, photo, voice recording or location.
- We never ask or store a child's age. Age labels on games and books are recommendations only.
- Most things are saved only on your own device: pictures your child keeps, medals, sound settings and your grown-up choices.
- A few things do leave the device, and this page lists each one: the words your child types to make a new picture, a Club or game code when it is checked, a note of picture ideas we don't have yet, and messages you send us.
- Purchases are made by grown-ups, behind a grown-ups question.
- We do not collect personal information from children under 13. That is the standard in the U.S. children's privacy law, COPPA.
For schools and libraries
A class may use the free games and the free coloring pages. There is no account and there are no ads. Start at the page for teachers and librarians. We do not keep student names, so there is no student record for a district to sign over.
We work to meet COPPA (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, enforced by the Federal Trade Commission), and the site is built to fit schools' and libraries' CIPA filtering rules (the Children's Internet Protection Act, from the Federal Communications Commission) and FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, from the U.S. Department of Education). We have not been certified by these agencies, and they do not endorse us.
For parents, teachers and librarians: in Parent settings a grown-up can turn off the live cams, AI pictures, game making, the Club or buying books, one at a time, or all at once with free mode. These choices are saved only on that device and are never sent to us.
Using the site
The pages work with a keyboard. The home title is labeled so a screen reader says "My Color Place" instead of spelling each colored letter. If a control is hard to use on a school computer, email us and name the device.
Who we are
My Color Place (mycolorplace.com) is run by YKS Adventures LLC, 466 Harper Ct, Windsor, CA 95492, USA. Grown-ups can reach us about privacy at yourknowledgesight@gmail.com or with the contact form at the bottom of this page. We read every message and reply by email.
What we do not collect
We do not ask children for any personal information. There are no accounts, profiles, chat, comments or places to share pictures with other people. We do not use cookies, we do not track anyone from site to site, and we do not build profiles or show ads.
What stays on your device
Some things are saved in your browser's own storage so your child can pick up where they left off. These stay on your device and are never sent to us:
- pictures your child chose to keep, their hero, medals, trophies and game progress
- sound on or off
- Parent settings, like turning the wild animal cams on, or free mode
We never ask or store a child's age. Age labels on games and books are recommendations only.
We can't see any of this. A Club or game code you enter is saved here too, but it is also sent for checking when used (see "Club and game codes" below). You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Making a picture with Create a Page
When a child asks for a new picture (for example "a dragon eating ice cream"), the picture words are sent to our picture helper so it can draw the page. Before the words leave the page, we automatically remove anything that looks personal, such as an email, a link, a phone or house number, or words like "my name is" or "I live", and we keep at most 120 letters. Your child's own drawing and colors are never sent; only the words are.
Who draws the picture. Our picture helper runs on Cloudflare. It sends the picture words to an AI picture service to draw the page:
- For Club members, and for a few free pictures each day, the words go to OpenRouter, which passes them to the company that runs the picture model.
- Otherwise, the words go to Cloudflare's own picture AI.
These services receive only the picture words, not your child's internet address or anything about the device.
Free pictures we keep. When a free picture is drawn for a child, our helper saves that picture together with the cleaned-up picture words (at most 60 letters) and the date. We do this so the next child who asks for the same words gets the same picture right away, and so we can check the pictures and add good ones to our free library. Nothing about the child or the device is saved with it. Saved pictures can be shown again to anyone who asks for the same words.
Sharing the free pictures fairly. To share out the free daily pictures, the helper counts how many pictures each visitor makes in a day, using a scrambled (hashed) version of the internet address instead of the address itself. The count is deleted within two days and is not used for anything else. Cloudflare also briefly uses internet addresses to stop anyone from overloading the helper.
Picture ideas we don't have yet. If we don't have a picture for something a child asks for, the page may send us just those words (at most 60 letters, and only if nothing personal is found in them) so we can draw it later. This note is stored by Netlify, our website host. Like every form on Netlify, it is stored with the internet address, browser type and page it came from. We only read the picture words.
The microphone on Create a Page
Create a Page has an optional microphone button. It uses the speech-to-text that is built into your browser or phone, not ours. Some browsers send the sound to their maker to turn it into words: Chrome sends it to Google, and Safari on an iPhone or iPad may send it to Apple. If the browser can't do it, the button asks your child to use the phone keyboard's own microphone, which works the same way. Our site never receives or keeps any sound, only the typed words that come back, which are then treated like any other picture words above. If you would rather not use it, your child can type instead.
Dot's voice
When Dot, Ray or another guide talks, you hear short voice recordings we made ahead of time and keep on our own site. No outside voice service is used, and your device’s robot voice is not used either. Lines we couldn’t record ahead, such as the words your child typed or said for a picture, are simply not read out loud.
Club and game codes
After a grown-up buys the Club or a game, Lemon Squeezy emails a code. When the code is entered, it is saved in your browser and sent to our picture helper, which checks it with Lemon Squeezy to make sure it is real. The helper keeps a scrambled version of the code (not the code itself) and a count of pictures made with it, so we can keep to the monthly picture limits. Club counts are deleted after about 40 days; a game code's count is kept for about 13 months. The helper never learns who your child is.
Live nature cams
The Nature Window page (/nature) shows live videos of space and nature from explore.org and its partners, NASA, Monterey Bay Aquarium and Africam. They play through YouTube. Our own Northern Lights video is stored on our site. Nothing loads from YouTube until your child taps a cam. The video then plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), with links out to YouTube blocked. While a video plays, YouTube may receive basic technical data, like the device and internet address, and may save a little data in the browser; see YouTube's own privacy policy. Wild animal cams stay off until a grown-up turns them on in Parent settings on the For Parents page, behind a grown-ups question.
The Space page
The Space page shows today's NASA pictures and where the Space Station is. Our picture helper fetches these from NASA and others for us, so your device only talks to our own site and helper, not to NASA.
Free downloads
Free coloring books download straight from our own download helper on Cloudflare. There is no sign-up, no email, no form and no cookie. Like any website, the server briefly handles the internet address to deliver the file.
Links to other websites
Some pages link to other kids' sites, like NASA, PBS Kids or National Geographic Kids. These links ask a grown-up first. Those sites have their own privacy rules.
Buying books, the Club or a game
Purchases are for grown-ups. Before any checkout opens, a grown-ups question appears, and the checkout opens on Lemon Squeezy's own website. Lemon Squeezy, our store, collects the buyer's name, email and payment details to complete the order and email the code. We do not ask for or receive any information about your child. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
Our website host
Our site is hosted by Netlify. Like every website host, Netlify's servers handle technical information such as internet addresses so pages can be delivered safely. We don't use this to identify or track anyone. Notes and messages sent with our forms are stored by Netlify, as explained above and below. Our fonts are stored on our own site, so no other company is contacted when a page loads.
We don't share or sell information
We don't sell, rent or share information about children. The companies named on this page (Cloudflare, OpenRouter, Netlify, Lemon Squeezy and YouTube) only help run the site, and only get what they need to do that one job.
Your rights as a parent
We don't collect your child's name or contact details, so there is usually nothing for us to show or delete. If you think your child typed something personal into Create a Page, or you have any question, email us at yourknowledgesight@gmail.com or use the contact form below. Tell us the words if you can. We will look through saved pictures and notes, delete anything we find, and reply. You can also clear everything saved on your device at any time from your browser settings.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change would mean collecting personal information from children, we will ask for a parent's permission first.
